Q&As on how to Join KofC Council 11948

1. What is the Knights of Columbus?

The Knights of Columbus is a Catholic brotherhood of men who put their faith into action. Knights support their families, strengthen their parishes, serve their communities, help those in need, and stand together for the values of the Catholic faith.

2. Who can become a Knight?

Membership is open to practical Catholic men who are 18 years of age or older and in union with the Catholic Church. A practical Catholic seeks to live according to the teachings of the Church and participate in the life of the faith.

3. Do I have to be a member of Holy Disciples Parish to join Council 11948?

No. Our Council welcomes eligible Catholic men from throughout the Puyallup area. If you are looking for a way to become more involved in your faith, parish, family, and community, we would be glad to meet you.

4. What does a Knight actually do?

That depends on the needs of our parish and community. Knights volunteer at parish and community events, support charitable causes, assist families and individuals in need, participate in faith-based programs, and organize activities that bring people together.  Some Knights are heavily involved in Council activities. Others participate when their time permits. There is a place for every man who wants to contribute.

5.  Do I have to attend every meeting?

No. We understand that family, work, and other responsibilities come first. Council meetings are important because they allow us to plan and coordinate our activities, but being a Knight is about more than attending meetings.

We want our members to find meaningful ways to participate that fit their lives.

6. What do I get from being a Knight?

Membership provides an opportunity to:

  • Grow in your Catholic faith

  • Build lasting friendships with other Catholic men

  • Serve your parish and community

  • Support families and charitable causes

  • Develop leadership and service skills

  • Take part in programs and activities with other Knights

  • Access member benefits offered by the Knights of Columbus

The Knights also offers a range of financial products and services designed to help members protect their families and plan for the future.

7. Is the Knights of Columbus only about charity?

The KofC focus on the full virtue of charity, financial being only aspect of Christian charity. The Knights also bring together faith, fraternity, family, and service. We believe that Catholic men are stronger when they support one another and work together to make a difference.

8. What if I am a younger man?

You are welcome. The Knights is a brotherhood that brings together men of different generations and backgrounds. Younger men can find opportunities for fellowship, service, faith formation, and leadership while learning from experienced members.

9. What if I don't know anyone in the Knights?

That's okay. You don't need to know anyone to get started.

Contact Council 11948 by emailing our Member Coordinator at t6461970@gmail.com.  Then come meet us at an event or activity. You can see firsthand what we do, meet some of our members, and decide whether the Knights is right for you.

10. What is the commitment?

The commitment is ultimately to live your Catholic faith and serve others alongside your brother Knights.

How much time you devote to Council activities can vary. Some members take on leadership responsibilities; others volunteer for specific projects or events. What matters is that we work together and contribute where we can.
